Blurb Introduces New Book Sizes, iPhoto Integration, and Expanded Blog-to-Book Capabilities
Blurb, the creative book publishing service, today announced the availability of its BookSmart® beta release version 1.7. This latest release introduces two new book sizes – large format landscape 13x11 and square 7x7 – along with complete iPhoto integration and expanded blog-to-book capabilities including support for Blogger and LiveJournal.
Blurb’s large format landscape 13x11 book is currently available in hardcover with dust jacket. The square 7x7 book is available in both hardcover with dust jacket, and softcover. These new sizes complement Blurb’s existing sizes: standard 8x10 portrait and 10x8 landscape. The expanding menu of book sizes meets user demand for different ways to showcase their creativity, and to create professional-quality products that promote their businesses.
“The professional and prosumer photography segment has been clamoring for a true ‘coffee-table’ book that features their work, which they can then present to wedding and other clients,” said Eileen Gittins, Blurb’s founder and CEO. “We have also heard from graphic artists, poets, marketers, and gift-givers that they would like a smaller book, preferably square, that’s less expensive. With the new square 7x7 softcover book starting at $12.95 for a single copy, people can buy multiple copies to use as promotional pieces, to give as gifts, or to sell at a profit.”
Blurb recently announced its Set Your Price program, which allows Blurb authors to create and sell books for profit. Blurb authors can sell their books in Blurb’s online bookstore at a price of their choosing, while keeping 100 percent of the profits.
Additional features in Blurb’s BookSmart beta release version 1.7 include:
- Expanded blog-slurping support for Blogger and LiveJournal users to convert their blogs into bookstore-quality books automatically, using Blurb’s Blog Slurper. BookSmart inserts the slurped blog directly into a professionally designed book template, producing a draft book in minutes.
- Additional iPhoto integration capabilities. Now all photo libraries saved in iPhoto, including albums and last rolls, will automatically show up in BookSmart, with no import required.
- Increased text formatting support with line spacing and justification.
