Dear Present and Future Blurbarians,
Since people first put ink to papyrus, books have captured our best thinking, learning and
experiences. They are the legacy that each generation provides for the next.
Everywhere you look, new technology is letting regular people participate in parts of our
culture once accessible only to the elite few. Today, anyone with Web access can share their
opinions with the click of a mouse. In the same way, Blurb helps ordinary people
express their passions and record their experiences in books to share with their families,
communities and the world.
Making a book is a transformational experience.
I have yet to have a conversation about Blurb where the other person does not start talking –
animatedly – about “their” book. Whether it’s an archive of rare movie posters, a collection
of favorite blog postings or favorite Italian recipes, a trip to the Amazon rainforest, or
the story of a beloved grandparent’s journey through Ellis Island – it seems every person
has a book in mind. And there is nothing in the world like seeing that book printed and bound
for the first time. Serious goosebumps.
We believe in books, and the people who make them, too. In the weeks and months to come,
we’ll be launching a community of authors and bookmaking specialists – a place to find the
content, camaraderie, inspiration and guidance to make your books everything they can be.
We’ll also be launching new e-commerce tools that allow you to profit from your creations.
So stay tuned – there’s much more to come.
Blurb has already been the most exciting professional experience of my career-and the
best part is hearing stories behind the amazing books people are creating with our services.
So please share your stories with us at stories@blurb.com.
We’d love to hear from you!
Blurb unlocks the book inside every person, every community, and every important moment of
life. What will your book be?
Best,
Eileen
