About the Book
These are the personal memoirs of James Lyall, from his childhood in Wick, Caithness, through his early working life as a journalist in Wick and Glasgow, his army experiences in Somaliland and Abbysinia, his work as a reporter on the East African Standard and then as a Provincial Information Officer in Colonial Kenya up to the time of the country's independence.
Jim was born in Wick in 1908 and died in Dundee in 1970. The book was written around 1967 but not published until now.
