The Shaolin Temple is often considered to be the birthplace of martial arts, particularly the art of kung fu. In this book I share my photographs and daily journal from my trip to China in 2008. I toured through several cities in China on my way to the Shaolin Temple to see for my self the historic temple and train kung fu in this very inspirational place. This book contains over 300 photographs from cities such as Beijing and Xi'An. The photographs capture the beauty and mystery of such tourist sites as the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and the Terra-Cotta Warriors.
I have studied Gong Fu for nearly 9 years with the Shaolin Lohan Pai. In June of 2004 I was honored by being accepted as an apprentice to my master Vincent Cabais a 33rd generation lineage holder of the Shaolin Lohan Pai. I was apprenticed to him for a period of 5 years during which time I trained, taught, and acted as the Head Instructor and General Manager of the St. Louis Chapter of the Shaolin Lohan Pai. I wish to do the best that I can to carry on the great traditions that have been shared with me through my journey in the martial arts. This requires lots of hard work, diligence, perseverance, and patience. To cultivate that kind of attitude, and also practice the skills and techniques necessary to advance takes an investment of a lot of time. I vow to devote as much time as I can to make this a great school that upholds good values and helps others learn and progress on their journey in the martial arts.
