Everyone knows that I love family history, old photos, old documents etc. My mother 'saved' some very old and dear photographs from the trash when her mother died and her sister didn't think anyone would be interested. Also, in 1985 when my father passed away, I rescued a box of photos from my childhood home and my brother rescued the slides. So, for 25 years they've been sitting around with no one to enjoy them.
Then this past couple of years a few things changed to bring them to the forefront.
1. I began doing the family genealogy in earnest and that brought dozens of photos to me from relatives I haven't seen or talked to in years.
2. My mother had a serious medical condition which caused her to lose her memory. Fortunately, it is coming back, but I realized that her memory of people and events that happened in the distant past were sharper than those that took place more recently.
So, I took the old photos that I had collected, my brothers contributed what they had (including getting digital copies of all those slides) and I put them into this book.
I hope mom finds this a fun trip down memory lane. I know I did!
