A photographic homage from Hans Peter Föllmi to those architects, who proved over the last 100 years, that stones can be alive.
Living Stones shows that architecture has a strong connection with people in their natural, social and cultural environment. However the main issue is not the organic character of the buildings, but the principles itself, which accomplish harmony between people and architecture. Like music can bring about a harmonic timbre in our hearing, it is visible if the compositions of the individual bricks are in harmony.
The human eye will not only be gratified by rhythm and arrangement for example, due to the Golden Section, but also by colour and form.
The human dimension has a positive effect on our psyche as well, because it fits in our sensory perception. Inside this spectrum everything should be, however, within, there is a lot of latitude as the photographs will show you.
