About the Book
I currently work for the Development Economics Research Group in the World Bank with the Living Standards Measurement Study. The main focus of this position, which I have held since June 2007, has been to formulate new and interesting ways of counting poor people – though as of late I have also been counting poor cows and kilos of maize. Prior to joining a large multilateral lending institution, I was at the (recently re-branded) Harvard Kennedy School where I received a Masters in Public Administration in International Development. At various points in my life before embarking on that educational odyssey, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso, a Fulbright Scholar in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and a semi-pro backpacker.
