About the Book
NEW! UPDATED 2010 EDITION!
A behind-the-scenes look on the short film 'The Sheets Must Be Silk" - an ambitious production from a group of Seattle film makers, 3rd Eye Films, inspired by true events. New York 1961 - young photographer Dario Massimo lands the assignment of his career: to photograph Hollywood celebrity Marian Moore for the cover of a famous magazine. It was her last photoshoot before a tragic and unexplained death. There are numerous similarities, of course, between The Sheets Must be Silk and the true events that inspired it; but the script took flight towards a more profound realm, with an universal appeal, and a premise that I'm certain will ring true with many people, and not just photographers and their subjects. This is the story of an impossible love connection between two disparate worlds that came together for a few hours in one evening, and the immense mixture of emotions that changed both their lives forever. The book covers all aspects of the production, from script to screen, and also features over 120 photographs and poignant testimonials.
I have been a professional photographer since 1993. Prior to my permanent move to the US, I got my BA in Communications from University of Brasilia in Brazil, with a major in Advertising. I then got a AAA in Commercial Photography at the Art Institute of Seattle in 1996. I have a vast and diverse experience in traditional photography, having worked extensively with large format, medium format and 35 mm cameras as well as studio and location lighting. In 2003 I stopped using film in my assignments and switched permanently to digital format due to the cost increase involving the traditional photography work flow. I always preferred unusual and animated subjects as opposed to artificial ones. Beauty is truly where you find it. have been happily married for almost 15 years and currently am a full-time dad to my two beautiful children - they are my absolute priority. I freelance in photography and acting and have never been as happy as I am now with the life I have.
