Thanks! And the first preview pages are not even the best in the book ;-)
Anyway, the maps are made in iPhoto '09 (on a mac obviously) using the 'new' feature 'places'. The maps are then exported in high resolution (using a home made Automator workflow). I did some additional optimization in Photoshop and finally imported them in Booksmart. Hope this answers your question.
