Click to preview A stained glass Bible photo book

A photobook sampling the range of biblical subjects to be seen in English and some French church windows. My book illustrates a few of the many and varied ways in which those themes have been represented in glass over the ages.

The photographs are accompanied by (New Jerusalem) Bible texts by way of explanation. (Of course, in mediaeval times, it was the glass itself that told the story!)

Beautiful concept for a book. I'm buying a copy as a birthday gift for my father who makes stained glass as a hobby. Looking forward to reading it before I give it to him.

A book that could sit on a coffee table or used for devotions, beautifully photographed and elegantly published.

This comment was sent to me by one of the owners of the only "private" glass I include in the book:

At last I have managed to take a more considered look at the wonderful gallery of windows you have collected together. We are delighted that our small Transfiguration quatrefoil panel can be seen alongside much more illustrious neighbours, and much admire the range and variety of your selection. I particularly like the juxtaposition of medieval and modern, with their different styles and traditions, and feel to my surprise that Victorian windows like ours stand up well beside the medieval masters.

This book helps to explain the colourful depictions of the most recognised stories in the Bible with clear explanations of each scene. If you have ever been into a medieval church and enjoyed seeing the colour but haven’t really understood what is being portrayed this will help as a guide. Thoroughly recommended with beautiful images.

Not only I had the opportunity to attend an exhibition where some of Martin’s pictures were shown, but I also had the chance to see different personal albums. Martin is a brilliant photographer and also a very good narrator. Highly recommended.
