Haiku for Haiti
A Message of Hope
by Third-Grade Students from Greenbrook Elementary in Danville, California
Third grade students wanted to help the relief efforts in Haiti so they used their creative expression through poetry.
"Haiku for Haiti" is a book of poems that share the world's feelings of sadness and disbelief, but is also laced in love and hope.
The minute my mom gave me pencil and paper, I never imagined a life without writing. The ultimate goal for me is to write about or photograph "the things" I care about most and hope through connection with others, that others will be inspired, too. I am determined to "let go" and learn to live best "in the moment." So many things have happened in my life - just as they have in yours - that are unpredictable and sometimes leave me feeling I have no control. My mantra is to "simplify" and live in the moment. I live in Danville with my two amazing boys and am grateful to love what I do and do what I love: be a mom, teach, write, and constantly learn.
