Parrot the cat will show you what goes on in the day to day of a small but very busy animal shelter and introduce you to the staff and some of the animals. Parrot came to us under weight and with wounds from being bitten by the many other cats in her house, in spite of this she was extremely friendly and affectionate. It was easy to make her the heroine of my book. The Rutland County Animal Shelter in Central Vermont is a refuge for over 1400 animals a year. It runs almost entirely on donations and the hard work and dedication of it's staff and volunteers. Profits from the sale of my book will go to the shelter.

Hi Steph, thanks again. Rambo is on the cover. When I firt started working he was always sitting in the cat room window begging r et food. He was a big ol' yellow tiger tom and obviously a balttle worn veteran of many fights. I would sit in the back kennel disinfecting the carriers and feel the hairs up on the back of my neck and look up through the window in the door to see him staring at me. He could bore a hole through you till you went and got him a little wet food. He would only eat it on the little shelf and fight with the other cats if they got near him. He was a great ol' guy and eventually got adopted. Lucky for him people seem to love ol' fat cats. x Julie

Oh well I will have to look, I suspect it will get here any day now. Only being there a little over a year I don't recognize some of them, I think I remember meika though, but maybe not, she just looks familiar to me, and who was Rambo, that name sounds familiar too!

Hi Stephannie, no, Hurdy Gurdy doesn't have a full portrait in there, but I think he's in the background of ither the Rambo pcture or the picture of Jess with the school group. Hurdy wasn't a long term resident as he later came to be, when I started drawing everybody he had just arrved on the scene. Thanks for ordering the book I've been putting postersup in the vet' s offices as I transport animals, next I'll have to hit the libraries! Julie

Thanks Janet, I really appreciate your taking the time to tell me, it took a long time to draw everyone, folks and animals alike.
