This is a modern interpretation of the classic children's poem, Wynken, Blynken, and Nod by Eugene Field. The illustrator, Douglas Cooper, wanted to create a modern interpretation of this poem that was read to him as a child. He did this by having the sailors be of mixed races, and having the journey take place in the urban environment with all images referencing something found in the city.
