This book was was created to bring awareness to the current plight of Scotland's historic cemeteries. These graveyards are a valuable resource that represent the rich cultural and historical heritage of Scotland. Their merits as national landmarks are documented by the vast number of historical figures buried within them. Each site is home to wonderful examples of Scotland's rich artistic and architectural accomplishments of the past.
Looking at these graveyards today, it's sad to see how far they have fallen from their glory days. I speak of a time when the people of Edinburgh would retreat to these landscaped parks for a casual Sunday stroll to reflect and pay respects to loved ones passed on.
Page through the photographs and remember the beauty that once existed in these eternal sites. Ask yourself what you can do to help preserve these historical treasures for future generations.
