Ever walk by that abandoned building that looks really old and has architecture that captures your attention? You've always wondered what went on in there, who built it and when, and why the heck are they knocking it down to put up another ugly strip mall or fast food joint? And what about that vacant storefront, that old sign, or that movie theater that now looks like a swap meet? Crumbling City is a collection of black and white and color photographs exploring the nostalgic decay of our soon to be forgotten American landscape. Spitz also has included interesting historical facts about some of the locations he has captured. For those who believe there is beauty in our "crumbling cities", and for those who also want to learn about what some of these places used to be, "Crumbling City" is a must have in your photo book collection.

Nice book. I need to visit Cincinnati! No pictures from Detroit! Talk about a crumbling city! ouch! One suggestion I would make though is to use a more legible font for the body copy. The crumble font is great for headlines but not for body copy.....but in any case great photos!

yes you are fairly new to industrial decline over there in the states, whereas we have been declining for centuries over here in europe .. we reuse this sort of thing for the tate modern art gallery in london , for river side posh houses (london, newcastle ) for leisure in place of dock buildings .. liverpool .. don' tbulldoze too quickly, this can be redeemed
