About the Book
Oasys Property Solutions were appointed to design and project manage the refurbishment of this former 9 bedsit property.
After preliminary discussions with the clients, OPS produced conceptual designs for modification of the property. In producing its designs, OPS recognised that the most important requirement for this client was to create a property that worked as a family home. This included creating a large kitchen/dining/lounge room to create a social hub for all the family to congregate and reworking a flight of stairs leading to ease access to a downstairs WC for visiting elderly relatives. In addition, OPS suggested a number of new ideas that appealed to the client including a wine cellar, an integrated home entertainment system and a master suite complete a dressing room.
Once the design work had been completed and budget and timescale agreed, OPS took responsibility for managing the refurbishment through to completion. This involved liaising and negotiating with all contractors, coordinating the timely and efficient completion of all work and providing the client with regular progress updates.
Having completed the refurbishment of their house, the clients approached OPS to produce a design for their garden to complete the project. The brief was that the garden needed to be hard landscaped over the grass (to negate 'bleaching' by their dogs) and to provide both sufficient space for ball games and entertaining. The final design comprised of slate paving with a hardwood decked area, bounded by raised beds and planters (incorporating seating). In order to provide a low maintenance solution, the planting consists of hardy varieties and grasses, which are watered using an automatic irrigation system. The garden also includes a small pond and is illuminated with some designer lighting.
