About the Book
This series of photographs is the result of stepping out with my camera - an eclectic mix of urban and rural, strange and commonplace, beautiful and ugly, funny and sad.
The title also refers to stepping out on a new path, moving on and embracing what life has to offer.
Through my camera viewfinder I observe the daily and seasonal nuances which alter our domestic, rural and urban spaces. I usually prefer to take my inspiration from life as it unfolds, seeking to frame the mundane stuff of daily life in unexpected ways and creating fresh perspectives on the everyday. I have a particular interest in photographing the urban landscape, incorporating chance elements and exploring the nature of serendipity, coincidence and connections. The images are then combined into sequences in book form to emphasise the underlying relationships between the apparently random and haphazard, celebrating the accidental and the spontaneous. I am a recent graduate of the MA Photography course, de Montfort University, Leicester.
