A compilation of 47 stories as told by or about individuals who served during World War II. The stories are compiled from interviews, as well as old photographs, memorabilia and correspondence. These stories cover a variety of perspectives including those of medics, paratroopers, infantrymen, entertainers, liberators, prisoners, captors and soldiers. They are stories of heroism and humor, sorrow, loss and survival.
World War II was an epic mark on history. We who are able are humbled to remember their names, faces and what they did as they sacrificed for their homes, countries and for generations they may never meet.

This a fabulous book that honors 47 local WWII veterans. They all deserve our praise and admiration! I wish all veterans could be in such a fine book.
My friend Joe Burkard passed away this month (May 6, 2012). I am so very grateful to the authors for having given Joe this opportunity. Thank you Christina & Janell!
