Click to preview SCRATCHED Poems of Addiction & Recovery pocket and trade book

A collection of images and poems.
‘Scratch‘, while written by me, is for all of those that share the journey associated with the pain, frustration, love, hope and courage necessary to get beyond the ravages of addiction, both in ourselves and those that we love.

About the Author

Donna Hickerson Young
hickerson Louisville, Kentucky

I am a poet and I am a self-taught artist from Louisville. My art is a refection of growing up and living in Kentucky. I like to work with bright bold colors that bring alive my portraits of people, pets and landscapes. I am one of the fortunate people who dream in color and I put those colorful dreams and memories in my paintings and photographs.
I work with acrylic paints on small to medium size canvas. I also enjoy photography and digital art. There is drama in everyday life and I like the challenge of taking a photograph and turning it into a piece of fine art. Everyone’s past, present and future is their own personal literature and through my art and photography, I seek to tell their story.
