This is the story of a woman who was born in 1895 and who lived in a time of social change and emerging opportunities for women. She embraced both new and traditional roles, and was successful at both. This woman was my grandmother, and her name was Della Shultz Geissinger.

For a farmer's daughter living in rural Pennsylvania, my grandmother's young adulthood was quite unconventional. She graduated from high school, went on to study for a teaching certificate, and spent nine years teaching in one room schools. She drove a Model T Ford, and explored Philadelphia with her single uncle. At age 35 she married my grandfather, a Mennonite farmer, and eventually gave birth to four children.

This 40 page book includes 44 photographs, two drawings, one poster and a letter, and recollections from the author and other family members.

Darlene, I loved your book. I was looking at examples before starting some projects of my own. You did a beautiful job. I too had a Granny similar to yours and reading about your Granny and family brought tears to my eyes. I am sure your family appreciates your beautiful book.
