Sandra Garzón Villarreal captures the infinitesimal details, sweeping vistas and startling colors of the world around her with a sense of delight and effortless serendipity. With each click of the shutter, time stops. The subject, the color, form, line and texture - everything seems to expand and take up much more of my perception. It's as if the microsecond becomes eternity, and the more it grows, the richer it becomes, the more there is to see and the more it makes me feel. She stills the rushing-by of the everyday, preserving the countless treasures we miss in our hurry to make appointments and meet goals, pay bills and attend to the endless demands of our lives.
This collection gave me an opportunity to remember how joy can suffuse a single moment, one perception, and how that can change the experience of every moment that follows.
The first published collection by Sandra Garzón Villarreal, a young photographer living in rural Mexico, who uses her camera to capture the extraordinary treasures hiding in the ordinary world and common moments of life. Inspired by nature, family, friends, and her local environment, she reminds us through this collection to stop and savor every moment while we still may.
Sandra Garzón Villarreal grew up on the west coast of Mexico in a rural village consisting of about 70 families where she continues to live with her parents and three younger brothers and sisters. She is very involved with her local church, Centro Cristiano, and the missionary organization Alternative Missions, through which she came to know and follow Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She also continues to work as a photographer locally, providing portrait and event photographic services through her studio "Visión Real".
