Mary and John, The Early Years is a trilogy. It is a biographical and historical story of two lives from very different backgrounds that began on separate continents, of two hearts that came together at a time when a world at war threatened to tear them apart and of the family and friends who are intimately woven into the fabric of their enduring relationship.
Volume 1 – It is September 1880. The central character to this story, Edith Mary Pinker, is born at Crick Lodge in New Shoreham, England. The story follows her, her family and in particular her free-spirited daughter Mary through the family’s tragedies and triumphs that take them up to the early years of World War II. An ocean away in Quebec, Canada, we similarly follow the life of Jean-Pierre (John) and his French Canadian family. Mary’s and John’s journeys are separate but destiny eventually intertwines the lives of these two young adults.
