Flowers provide so much for us to enjoy with their variety of form, texture, design and depth of colors, which range from a deep dark violet bordering on the verge of black to the purest of white with every imaginable color sprinkled between. I treat each flower as a portrait, using much the same technique that would be utilized for any portrait. Sculpting light to bring out the essence and personality of each special blossom. This book is a collection of everyday flowers found in my backyard, in pots, along the road and in the woods no further than a few miles away from my home.

I love how the flowers stand out of the black/dark background. How do you accomplish that? My backgrounds always turns out much lighter
