Shira E. Landman was born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1965 to a family which traces its roots to France, Italy, and Russia. Since 1999 she has lived and worked in New Mexico. Her childhood interest in photography quickly progressed from hobby to profession, and in her early twenties she was employed as an assistant to several established photographers in Europe. Now, twenty years later, although trained as a sculptor, photography still remains a significant and vital means of expression for her. Nature, Animals, form and shapes found in landscapes with their unique textures are consistent themes in her work.
