Julie Meridian collects leaves, twigs, bones and other commonplace specimens and preserves them in delicate frameworks constructed solely of natural light and shadow. Her images are poetic explorations of the transient and ephemeral nature of life, the inevitability of loss, and the transcendence of beauty.

Julie Meridian is a self-taught photographer, with a background in fine art and art education. She recently exhibited her work at the Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago and the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, Massachusetts, and is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas. A portfolio of her work was featured in LensWork magazine and she has won several awards from B&W Magazine.
