WARNING: BOOK CONTAINS SEXUAL IMAGES THAT MAY OFFEND SOME PEOPLE
Glimpses of Purity is a short version of Purity and it is directed at agents to find me a publisher.
Purity is a catalogue of Brooker’s practice as a fine art photographer over the past thirty years and is a fascinating insight into counter culture and alternative sexuality in Sydney.
Purity demonstrates that sexuality is about personal choices and possibilities.
Brooker photography takes sexual taboo and transforms it into spirituality and sensuality. Her images convey the belief that good sex promotes freedom within and a sense of exhilaration and this is evident in her style and pursuit of Purity.
Brooker talks with a sense of delicacy about the sensitivity of
sex, of a strange fragility that is evoked in her work.
When describing her practice, there is a feeling of negotiating boundaries and the risk of falling over the edge into a dark place, but instead these images teeter precariously at the precipice, a determined and unsettling wedge splitting our sense of the acceptable.
Brooker describes Purity as a love story. It is an exploration of one woman’s journey in life yet on a grander scale; it reflects and informs a whole generation about the changing face of sexuality in the 21st century.
