About the Book
Leo the Lion is the story of my four-year-old son's battle with a malignant brain tumor. Cancer is a terrifying disease, but it has also taught us what really matters in life and that no situation is hopeless. This book was written to give people a resource of encouragement in a time of need. The human spirit is amazingly resilient. Children are miracles and through faith and science, cancer is finally not an automatic death sentence.

This is my first book. I have spent the past ten years of my life being a physical therapist and in September of 2009, I took a leave of absence. My then three-year-old son was diagnosed with a metastatic brain tumor and he would face a year of aggressive treatments, including proton radiation and chemotherapy. Leo is now in remission and I will return to work just short of a one year leave. I wanted to write this book before I returned to work and would never have the chance to finish it.
