Japan: A Cartoonist's Journey - Vol. 1.10 日本：ある漫画家の旅 ― 第1.10巻
Dave Boyer's first book of a series may inspire you to look at people in a fresh, new way.
New York cartoonist and caricaturist Dave 'Bippy' Boyer has drawn live caricatures in Japan since Golden Week 1999.
But through his camera and hand of friendship, he takes us on his journey to affirm and respect the people of Japan.
Learn and laugh with him a little about: Caricature, the shakuhachi flute, the game of Go, costume play, the JR trains and the shinkansen.
See a future shinkansen that can travel over 500km an hour floating on a pulsing magnetic field.
In a candid way, 'Bippy" explores and shares his journey of learning about a non European culture.
He breaks down stereotypes or presumptions about people as he draws their caricature.
And makes friends along the way by learning their culture.
Dave Boyer says, "In life, be mindful of the past, present and future. In Japan, these live in harmony."
