Shooting Around Siena
Photography in the Val d’Orcia
by Julia Maudlin
About the Book
A week of photography in an enchanted landscape of early morning mists clearing to reveal a patchwork of vineyards and olive groves, punctuated by deep green cypress trees. Verdant rolling hills embrace dusty white paths that meander towards terracotta farmhouses and medieval hilltop towns. This is the heart of classic Tuscany, a feast for the eyes and the camera! Julia Maudlin is a photographer and traveler, most happy when setting out yet again with a bag on her back and a dog-eared Baedeker in her pocket. Since 1996 she has researched, organized and led many garden tours throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland & Northern Ireland, France, Italy and South Africa. In May 2010, she led a photography holiday to Tuscany. The book includes recipes for the rustic Tuscan pasta known as pici and two traditional pasta sauces, garlic sauce and bread sauce, as well as recipes for cantucci with almonds and Guinea fowl with citrus. Printed on premium heavy-weight coated art paper for best reproduction quality.
