About the Book
Thru Our Eyes is a photography program at the School for Children with Special Needs in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a multi-island nation in the Eastern Caribbean. The program began in 2007 as a collaborative effort between the school and a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer to expose youth to the art of photography. It aims to help them visually document their culture, community, and the world around them. Thru Our Eyes is empowering youth with various disabilities by giving students a chance to express themselves in a way they would not have had otherwise.
This book is a collection of photographs taken by students of the School for Children with Special Needs and is an opportunity for the viewer to experience life through these children’s eyes. All proceeds earned from book sales will go directly to the school to continue funding the Thru Our Eyes program.
