This next year you’re going to have friends who die. How are you going to be their friend? How are you going to help them? How are you going to help them in their final moments? As they face the greatest crisis of their life what are you going to say? What do you say to somebody who is terminally ill? Unfortunately when many people hear that a friend is dying they avoid them because they don’t know what to say or do. That leaves the friend feeling rejected and abandoned and us feeling like failures. This is why this book is so important ... so the Great Commandment can be lived out in our lives and we can be the friends we want to be and the kind of friend that they need us to be.

About the Author

I grew up in Glace Bay, Cape Breton in a coal mining town. At a very young age I felt Christ's call to ministry but I let my father talk me out of following that call. I went to law school and practiced in Sydney, Nova Scotia for 10 years. Through my law practice and my work with volunteer agencies I saw a lot of human struggles. As I saw the familes and lives being torn assunder by crime, conflict, shame, job loss, and broken trust I felt Christ's call more powerful than before. I left the law and went to seminary. Many think that this is a great change but I went into law to help people get their lives on track, and in ministry I am doig the same thing, except now instead of serving the law, I serve God.
