Naturalist and prize-winning photographer Laure Neish has travelled much of the backcountry near her home in the Okanagan Valley of southern British Columbia, Canada with camera in hand. Her stories of birds in the field share some of the humour, pathos and frustration offered by nature in her quest for the "perfect" bird photo. Local birds and landscapes are richly illustrated from her extensive collection of photographs. Her photos have appeared in several bird field guides, including Handbook of Birds of the World, as well as magazines such as Audubon, Birder's World and National Wildlife. A few are also found in the BirdsEye phone application through VIREO (http://vireo.acnatsci.org/). She hopes this book will awaken a wonder and passion for birds in all who read it.
