Black & White Photographs from the 1950s and 60s.
These wonderful photographs give a remarkable insight into a way of life that has gone forever. Our lives may have changed beyond recognition but through the eyes of one man the memories of a bygone era enable the spirit of the people and places of the North of England to live on.

I knew Harold Robinson from 1999 when he had moved to Brackley in Northamptonshire and joined Banbury Camera Club. Harold's black and white prints and his later colour work both made a great impression. Mark Robinson has done a superb job in scanning his father's prints and negatives from the 1950s and 60s, and it is wonderful to have this permanent record of Harold's work. I first bought the 7x7 ins version of the book (under the same title of Northern Legacy) and I now have this 12x12 ins version too. I can recommend both versions unreservedly. If you can afford the 12x12 ins book you will get some more photos and captions, and you will really appreciate the quality of Harold's photography and Mark's work in the larger size. If you are in the North of England don't miss the associated exhibitions, currently in Burnley until 24th December 2010, with other venues planned.
