I was one of the lucky few to receive this story as a Christmas card from Ray a number of years ago, and what started as a funny, touching, lump-in-the-throat poem has been turned into an even more charming illustrated book here. A colorful retro illustration style, combined with a surprisingly meaningful and original holiday message -- touching but not treacly -- DR. FRANKINCENSE deserves to be a holiday tradition in every household, right up there with the Grinch and the Peanuts Gang. Holiday cynics rejoice -- if this simple and well-crafted story doesn't light the coal in your gut and melt your icy heart, then you're a helpless humbug.
