Photography for me is about finding new ways of seeing. In the digital age, with instant access to billions of images it is nearly impossible to photograph something that no one has ever seen, With this in mind, I strive to make images which explore new ways of seeing things. Done right, photography takes the ordinary everyday parts of our lives and can show them to us in ways we never though possible. Imagery can transport people to far off places, or remind them of the oft-overlooked beauty right down the street.
Lightfolio endeavors to show just a small portion of my work from the past decade. I hope you enjoy viewing these images even a fraction as much as I have enjoyed making them.
Based in Columbia, Maryland, I have been making images for over ten years. Turning to a camera as a distraction while in Florida, taking care of my ailing mother, photography has grown into one of the great loves of my life. With the era of digital dominance still a few years away, I picked up my first SLR camera, a book on landscape photography, by legend John Shaw , and began this great love. Photography over the years has at times consumed my life, but even when I would put it down for a while I would always return. Time behind the lens, for me, is more than just making photographs. It is about a time when the world quiets down and the noise of everyday life seems to fade away. To me there is no greater thrill than chasing light.
