About the Book
Being There is a collection of my music photography dating back to when I was a teenager. I've wanted to put a book like this together
for a long time, and it has turned out to be a really cool and surprisingly rewarding experience for me. The process of choosing the images for this book was harder than I thought it would be, so in the end I decided to simply pick what felt right.
I took the title for Being There from Wilco's album of the same name, because it seemed perfect for this project. Whether on assignment or on a personal adventure, my goal is always to be able to capture the soul of the artists and the energy of the music they create... to preserve what it felt like to be standing there in that moment and translate that feeling into the final image. Music will continue to drive me to photograph, so what you see here is only the beginning for me.
