The first thing you notice upon arrival in Goa is that it does not appear to give you the impression that you are in India. It's like you're in another land.
The tropical weather and lush greenery are unlike other parts of the continent which are characteristically dusty and brown for the most part.
Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants, and conquered it soon thereafter.
With exquisite beaches, golden sunsets and 450 years of Portugese influence, Goa is the perfect retreat for a lazy summer vacation.
