About the Book
Shadows Dancing at Twilight
In preparing this work Nan Dickson has captured glimpses of some of those shadows, both young and old, “caregivers” and “patients,” who are learning the dance steps called for by Alzheimer’s disease.
Proceeds from this book will go to the work of the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter. This chapter of the association offers services to individuals in thirty-seven counties who live with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Programs include information on the disease and local resources, education and training, individualized care and support, advocacy, and research.
Nan Dickson is a fourth generation Texan educated at universities in Tennessee and Texas. Her photographic career began in 1979 and led to years of continuing interest in photography. The training she received from David Clanton and Don Rutledge, a photographer with Black Star, had early and lasting impact. She combines a trained eye with technical skills, experience in public relations, and a growing knowledge of people and life. She has recently begun to exhibit her black-and-white fine-art photography at locations in Texas and Colorado .
