The desire to portray a segment of the authentic Morocco led Judith Lanius to the small remote town of Risssani in southeastern Morocco. Rissani: Morocco's Gateway to the Sahara is the first photographic book which focuses on the life of a small town next to the Sahara.
The people of Rissani; the quotidian life of the town; the surrounding dwellings and the Sahara itself are all the subject of this book.
The photographer Judith H. Lanius has been an inveterate traveler from childhood. The appeal of other cultures is a theme that runs through her professional photographic life.
