Joan Garvin is a photographer trained at the International Center of Photography in New York City, as well as a member of the American Society of Media Photographers. She is an award winner in A.S.M.P.'s Image 08 and Fotoweek DC international competitions.

Her High Line series is included in "Photobook NYC", a special edition book sponsored by PDN magazine celebrating the people, places and things of New York City.
