Upon discovering the lake during the 17th century, French explorers named this massive inland lake, le lac superior. The English later renamed the lake to Superior, recognizing it as superior in size to any other lake on the continent. N49W91 presents more than 20 exquisitely crafted black and white photographic images of the greatest of Great Lakes.
Photographer and inspiring teacher Alec C. Johnson has spent years gathering these images. He’s logged over 8,000 miles, slept in his car by the roadside with his dog, made more than 30 sleepy-eyed trips up and down I-35, consumed far too much coffee and invested hundreds of hours shooting and producing this collection. He has loved every minute of it. His passion for landscape photography and Lake Superior are captured in this stunning collection, and there’s no doubt you’ll be moved by the images of N49W91.
