Noxon, Montana gave me the opportunity to be as creative as I can during my 10 month stay in 2010. It is an artist's dream retreat. I have recently relocated in Coeur d'Alene, ID which I left in 1999 to go to Santa Fe NM. There I got a job as a patineur in a Bronze Art Foundry. When I was interviewed I said I had done patinas before...but....I had actually created my first bronze, David. You can see it in the book. David was sculpted and cast when I was 16. The foundry gave me the job and I worked on sculptures as a patineur all across the country.
Many commercial art venues require the artist to paint the same thing over and over again as if that needs to be done to show mastery. For me art is exploration so if I paint one well, it's time to try something new. Nature works like that. Nothing is ever the same. That's how I am; spontaneous, fresh.
We will always wonder, "What is Art?" It is not massed produced but rather, like a new bud in spring or a snowflake in winter.
