My intention in publishing this booklet is to share with my friends my personal aesthetic perception, while combining two occupations that have fascinated me throughout the years: archaeology and photography. This exercise has been made possible by the technical convenience of digital technology; I could not have considered attempting this project prior to the said technology becoming widely available to the layman. This book is an attempt to present the unique treasures of the Piraeus Museum, which, unfortunately, remain widely undiscovered, even to the Greek public. E.D.
Elias Dimitrakopoulos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1941. He joined the Greek Diplomatic Service, in 1968. Photography has always been essential, in his artistic priorities. Digital photography permitted him to address his creativity potential. Now that the years of duty are over, he is living in Athens, trying to catch-up with life-long longings.
