Each year, an esteemed jury selects the best in book and book cover design for AIGA’s annual “50 Books/50 Covers” competition to recognize excellence in book design and production.
A companion to the traveling exhibition of winning entries which began at the AIGA National Design Center in New York City in 2010, the 50 Books/50 Covers of 2009 catalogue showcases selections from the juried “AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers of 2009” competition identifying the best-designed books and book covers published in 2009.
Each year, the competition selections are published in AIGA’s online archives at designarchives.aiga.org, exhibited at the AIGA National Design Center and preserved in the AIGA Design Archives at the Denver Art Museum in Colorado. In addition, selections from each year’s “50 Books/50 Covers” competition are housed in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University.
This perfect-bound book created by Triboro Design features multiple views of the year’s juried selections along with jurors’ comments.
