Sam's Big Move is about a little girl, Sam, who moves from New York City, New York to Magoffin County, Kentucky. The book is part of the author's Schreyer Honors Thesis from Penn State-Brandywine. It was illustrated by a recent Penn State Brandywine graduate, Christina Felizzi.

Sam's Big Move was inspired by the author's six years of association with The Appalachia Service Project (ASP).
