For most of his adult life my dad, the artist Charles Carey, has collected bits and pieces from street markets and antique shops.

Some of the objects he bought – those he was either unable to sell or for which he formed a sentimental attachment – became subjects in his still life paintings and now come to comprise this Inventory.

Produced in secret on the occasion of his 80th birthday, this Inventory has been organized into loose ‘volumes’; Volume I explores Domestic Metalwork.
