About the Book
Juxtaposition:
'Noun, The fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect - Oxford Dictionary.
I have compiled a set of images over a number of days, documenting London and its inhabitants. It is a record as a spectator, not directing my subjects, just capturing what I saw, as it happened.
During the time I was in London it was at the same time as the student protests. These demonstrations were against the government’s tuition fee increase.
I didn’t however, want this book on London to be only linked to the student demonstrations so, I have included images of a wide range of other events of all types of significance, photographed over a short period of time out and about in London.
It is important not to sway opinions with the images I recorded. What I am showing here are events that just happened, a sort of Henri Cartier-Bresson image with his decisive moments. This is London being recorded in a place at a time, showing London as it is.
