Important update: See the new version of the book, Photos for the Gulf: First Anniversary Edition, at http://j.mp/gb---1st.
Update: As of 20 April 2011, we have raised $805 from photograph submissions fees and book sales to support Gulf Coast Oil Spill relief. Help us reach our goal of $5,000!
On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. When the well was finally capped, 153 million gallons of oil had spewed into the Gulf, making it one of the most devastating environmental disasters in the history of the United States.
Photos for the Gulf was composed in response to the disaster. It includes photographs and reflections by 22 photographers that depict a range of activities, communities, and ecosystems of the vast Gulf region that they have known and loved. The photographers include hobbyists and professionals who all share a passion for the Gulf and the lives that are supported by it.
All proceeds from sales of this book will be donated to The Gulf Restoration Network to help support their relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. You can find them online at http://healthygulf.org. Thank you for helping support their important work.
The book was composed in association with Write to Succeed, Inc.
