About the Book
East to West ....and Back Again is a personal account of a trip across Australia by rail and road. Margaret and Brian Walters had been planning such a trip for over 30 years but it wasn't until August 2009 that it finally came to fruition.
This book is a photographic record of the seven week journey, commencing in Sydney aboard the Indian-Pacific trans-continental train which conveyed Margaret and Brian (and their Magna station wagon) the 4,200 kilometres to Perth. Then followed 10,300 kilometres of driving; north to Shark Bay, back south to Perth and Fremantle, down to the south-west corner, across to Esperance and the Goldfields, across the Nullarbor and finally back to Sydney via Adelaide and Ballarat.
