About the Book
Set in a small Canadian town, the novel describes the life of Fawn Erwin, a young woman searching for her father while trying to adjust to life without her mother. Gifted with a unique condition which allows her to go with almost no sleep, Fawn splits her time between work, college, drama club, and the forest around Lone Pine Lake, where she discovers a long lost secret and witnesses a murder.

Jennifer Flanders Van der Hoek was born and raised in Elk Point, Alberta. She attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree with an English major and a Religious Studies minor. A lover of learning, Jennifer has worked at a variety of post-secondary institutions, including Lakeland College and Red Deer College. She currently works for an oil company. When not working or writing, Jennifer enjoys painting, quilting, and photography. An avid hockey fan, she always enjoys watching a game with her husband Mike and their dog Kacey, a mixed-breed "rescue".
